Kariyarra Aboriginal Corporation (KAC) requires a Heritage and Environment Officer to work in our busy team.
The role will be Working on Country in the Kariyarra determination area, Pilbara, Western Australia.
Based in the Pilbara in a full-time role.
The successful applicant will be required to fulfil the following requirements:
- Support the Heritage and Environment Group Manager to receive heritage and environment survey and monitoring notifications.
- Assist the Heritage and Environment Group Manager to contact the KAC Apical families involved in survey work to obtain nominated survey participants in a timely manner.
- Ensure all work program information is received in accordance with agreements.
- Contact and organise heritage survey participants based on KAC internal policies and procedures.
- Consult and contract anthropologists and archaeologists for surveys.
- Arrange all the logistics around heritage surveys, including collection of KAC members and travel needs for the members.
- Arrange heritage and environment surveys, ensuring that heritage survey reports are received and comply with agreements.
- Working with the Heritage and Environment Manager- quality assures all reports, ensure timesheets are submitted and deal with any issues that arise during and after surveys.
- Contribute to building a digital repository for KAC Heritage documents in SharePoint.
- Maintain electronic register of surveys.
- Advise and contribute to monitoring and evaluation reports.
- Contribute to development and implementation of a strategic plan for caring for country and maintaining connection to country.
- Be able to travel on-country regularly.
- Attend heritage meetings and other meetings when required.
- Adhere to compliance procedures.
- Involvement in KAC events as required.
- Hold a C-class manual drivers’ licence as a minimum.
- Ability to react calmly and effectively under pressure; and
- Other duties as required by the KAC Managers and the CEO.
- Assist the Heritage and Environment Group Manager to ensure that all appropriate maps are received from the proponents.
Appointment to this position is subject to a satisfactory Working with Children Check and National Police check.
