Key responsibilities for this role:  

Reporting to the Gippsland Region Silviculture Manager, the Fire Management Forester provides collaborative leadership and guidance for Gippsland Region’s fire risk management program. This includes fire response, pre-fire season preparation, relationships with other fire agencies and developing the capacity and capability levels of local HVP personnel and contractors.

What do you need to succeed in this role:

  • Current qualification as an FFMVic/CFA Crew Leader or equivalent.
  • Contemporary experience in Australian forest fire management.
  • Superior communication and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to lead in fire risk management, prevention, and suppression.
  • Proven ability working within teams, supervising works crews and being a team contributor.
  • Well organised with strong attention to detail.
  • Good GIS and mapping skills.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification and/or a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment would be well regarded but is not mandatory.
