Key responsibilities for this role:  

Reporting to the General Manager, Western Region, you will:

  • Lead and coordinate the Region's fire risk management program
  • Develop and implement fuel management strategies
  • Coordinate fire training and response activities
  • Manage relationships with fire agencies and community groups
  • Assist with planning and coordinating operational forestry programs

To thrive in this role, you will ideally possess:

  • Current qualification as FFMVic / CFA (or equivalent) Crew Leader - Wildfire or above.
  • Proven experience in wildfire risk management in a forest environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian forest fire management, preferably in softwood forestry.
  • Excellent planning and GIS mapping skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and as part of a team.
  • Clear and confident communication and relationship management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification and/or a Certificate IV in Training & Assessment would be well regarded.

Other information

  • A current Australian manual driver’s license is mandatory for this position
  • At times, travel and stays to other parts Victoria will be required, particularly in case of campaign fire-fighting activities
