The Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions is committed to promoting biodiversity and conservation to enrich people's lives, through sustainable management of Western Australia's species, ecosystems, lands and the attractions in the department's care.

Designs and implements scientific research focusing on understanding the ecological responses of key fauna species to climate change and other interacting threats in Western Australian forests, provides expert scientific advice, and effectively translates results of research to inform forest management for the conservation of target species. Undertakes ecological monitoring to detect changes in occupancy of key fauna species as a part of the Forest Health Monitoring Program.

Selection Criteria

  1. Well-developed skills and relevant experience in undertaking applied ecological research and/or monitoring to address how threatening processes influence the distribution and abundance of faunal species.
  2. Sound knowledge of experimental design and complex statistical analysis applied to understanding responses of fauna species to threatening processes and their management.
  3. Proven ability to publish research findings in a timely manner.
  4. Well-developed skills in working in a team to deliver productive research programs and collaborations.
  5. Demonstrated ability to effectively translate research outputs and liaise with internal and external stakeholders to achieve conservation outcomes.
