Salary: $75,243 - $101,416 per annum (based on 70 hours per fortnight) plus superannuation and a nine day fortnight

Appointed salary in this range will be based on skills, qualifications, and experience.

About the role

As a valued member of the team, your duties will provide expertise in biodiversity conservation, planning, environmental assessment and environmental management.

The role actively contributes to the development and implementation of natural resource management strategies, plans, grants, programs and projects to conserve biodiversity within the Hornsby Shire.

About you

We are seeking a person with either a high level of knowledge and experience in the areas of environmental assessment and biodiversity planning or a newly qualified and motivated candidate who brings tertiary level qualifications and a willingness to learn to the role. The ability to work unsupervised with very good time management and organisational skills are essential.

This position requires problem solving and decision making within the context of understanding complex environmental issues. The person will be required to apply relevant state and federal legislation/policy in local biodiversity planning and assessment decisions. The person is expected to have excellent computer and technical skills particularly in flora and fauna identification and management as well as an ability to work in the bushland field.
