Mirning Traditional Lands Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC (MTLAC) is the registered native title body corporate for the Mirning people.

The Mirning Determination area is situation in Western Australia on the Nullarbor Plain region, from the SA/WA border to Caiguna in the west and from the shorelines of the Great Australian Bight to the Transcontinential lines in the North.

We are a small but growing corporation with an office based in Perth.

The Role

MTLAC is going through an exciting phase of growth and is seeking an enthusiastic Projects Coordinator to join our team. In this role you will oversee the planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting of projects in the areas of heritage, land and culture.

Key duties include:

  • Leading the development of a Healthy Country Plan.
  • Coordinating a cultural mapping project.
  • Processing and coordinating heritage survey requests.
  • Managing logistical and health and safety arrangements for survey teams.
  • Managing the establishment of a cultural heritage database system.
  • Supporting the establishment of a Mirning Ranger Program.
  • Leading the development of special projects such as a “Back to Country” program for members.
  • Coordinating the development of Management Plans for key land reserves.

You will also provide administrative and logistical support to our Heritage Committee, contribute to the strategic development of MTLAC and provide advice to the Board within your areas of responsibility.

Skills & Experience

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications.
  • Previous project management and/or relevant field work experience.
  • Cultural competence and experience working with Traditional Owners.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills.
  • High level organisation skills and ability to consistently follow-though on tasks.
  • Excellent written skills for a variety of purposes.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, and cooperatively in a team.
  • Knowledge of risk management practices and health and safety requirements.
  • Current C Class driver’s licence.

Experience using geographic information systems (GIS) would be an advantage.

Salary and Benefits

A competitive salary of circa $110,000 pa plus superannuation will be negotiated based on skills and experience. Not for profit salary packaging (up to $15,899 per year) is available.

The role is based in Perth. Hours of work are usually 9am - 5pm, however given the nature of the role, work outside of these hours including field visits on Mirning Country will be required.
