Conservation Employee

Operating under direct supervision:

Participates in a range of activities related to land management including prescribed burning, bushfire suppression and control, fauna and flora protection, construction and maintenance of visitor sites, tracks and trails, facilities and roads, support of tourism and recreational activities and the operation of associated machinery.

Conservation Employee - Overseer

Under the direction of the Senior Works Coordinator or Works Coordinator:

Supervises and leads Conservation Employees and contractors in a range of activities related to the department’s works programs including conservation, parks and visitor services, sustainable forest management and fire management.

Conservation Employee - Machine Plant Operator

Under the direction of the Works Centre Coordinator or Overseer:

  • Operates heavy machinery such as a 950 Caterpillar Wheel Loader or equivalent, D6 Caterpillar bulldozer or equivalent in forested environments and challenging terrain. Undertakes loading, unloading and transportation of heavy machinery with Prime Mover and float on a variety of roads and conditions.
  • Undertakes bushfire suppression work at all categories of bushfire (level 1, 2 and 3) once fire line competent.
  • Applies appropriate disease hygiene and work, health and safety requirements at all times.
