The Position

We are seeking engaging and motivated grazing project officers to work with landholders and land managers to improve the productivity and profitability of our regional grazing industry.

Reporting to the Manager of Sustainable Agriculture, you will support landholders with property planning designed to improve land conditions and water quality outcomes. Your role includes providing extension services to agriculture landholders and technical support to Reef Catchments programs. In particular, this includes landholder engagement and communication support for Sustainable Agriculture programs.

The role allows you to use your technical and management skills to support demonstration trials, develop and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders and landholders to aid the development of sustainable agriculture projects, support the data collection and analysis of management practice adoption to evaluate the program's effectiveness and enable program modifications relating to extension and funding.

About you

  • Qualifications in a relevant field such as Agriculture, Applied Science or Natural Resource Management or equivalent relevant work experience and vocational or industry education/training.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage project planning, delivery, monitoring, evaluation and reporting, including coordination and monitoring activities of diverse project teams.
  • Understanding or experience of best practice grazing land management.
  • Demonstrated skills in data collection and management systems to produce data products to meet reporting and planning needs.
  • Advanced interpersonal, facilitation and communication skills as they relate to building strong relationships, partnerships and networks with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • High-level organisational skills, including the ability to organise and prioritise work activities in a demanding, busy environment, including demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Event organisation experience (meetings, workshops, field days).
  • Current Driver's Licence.

Desirable

  • Understanding of soil sampling hygiene and undertaking land condition assessments or similar monitoring and evaluation frameworks.
  • Managing demonstration trials.
