The Position

The Manager-level role sits within the Asset Management and Natural Capital team and will lead delivery of the Sustainability and ESG framework, and other Natural Capital works streams. We are seeking someone with expertise in agricultural asset management, sustainability and environmental accounting, with a flair for data and commercial analysis.  

GAPs Sustainability framework is ambitious and includes whole-of-life cycle sustainability target-setting, measurement and reporting.  The role will work closely with the asset management and on-farm teams and will have a significant impact on sustainability practices from on-farm planning to data collection coordination, data analysis, systems improvement, and reporting.  

Your key responsibilities will include: 

  • Working with the asset management and on-farm teams to deliver the sustainability framework.
  • Leading the design and implementation of GAPs asset sustainability plans for new assets, a first principles scientific approach to monitor and report environmental indicators.
  • Managing the sustainability and ESG reporting framework for the business including coordinating the monitoring and reporting of key metrics.
  • Managing the development of farm sustainability plans, including designing practice changes, target setting and metric development, data collection and analysis.
  • Conduct detailed data analysis and modelling, providing insights to support improved farm management and reporting.
  • Conduct commercial analysis and financial modelling to support natural capital and sustainability projects.
  • Author and present high quality sustainability reports. 

The Candidate

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Agriculture, Environmental Science, or similar.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of agricultural production, sustainability practices and environmental management.
  • 5 + years’ experience in environmental monitoring, agriculture asset management, sustainability, natural capital, or related fields. 
  • Expertise in data modelling, commercial analysis, and reporting systems including business intelligence reporting.
  • High level of attention to detail and accustomed to scientific methodology and rigour.
  • High level proficiency in the Microsoft office suite including MS Excel.
  • GIS experience preferred or the ability to rapidly acquire GIS skills.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong internal and external relationships.
  • Strong team orientation and the ability to work with and through others to achieve results.
  • Current driver’s licence and ability to undertake frequent travel throughout Australia.
