Remote Sensing Unit, Rangelands Division

The Northern Territory Department of Environment, Parks and Water Security is looking for an enthusiastic professional to work within the Remote Sensing Unit as Senior Rangeland Monitoring Officer - Remote Sensing. This senior role is an ongoing position based in Darwin (Palmerston office).

In this exciting team environment, you will working under the direction of the Director Environmental Data and within an integrated monitoring team to support the Rangeland Monitoring program and remote sensing data product creation in the Northern Territory. You will be an important part of an ongoing land management and scientific monitoring program. In this role you will work with a diverse range of scientists and stakeholders.

You will undertake analysis of remotely sensed data to assess spatial and temporal changes in vegetation and land condition. You will be involved in scientific reporting, assist in the development of remote sensing products and solutions, and where required conduct field work in remote locations to assess and calibrate auto detection systems.

To be the successful applicant, you will have a relevant scientific qualification from a recognised tertiary institution, and experience in applying remote sensing methodologies. You will have knowledge in the use of Geographic Information System (GIS) software, and ideally Python programming, for analysis of spatial data. Your will bring to the role a high level of collaborative and reporting skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders.
