Our North-West Biodiversity Conservation Division is seeking a suitably experienced professional to join their Compliance and Regulation Team as a Compliance and Regulation Officer. This position is pivotal to the protection of the environmental assets of the State including native vegetation, protected flora and fauna, and Aboriginal objects and places.

As a Compliance and Regulation Officer, you will contribute to the development and implementation of robust and credible compliance and audit programs within the North West region to ensure best regulatory practice and the delivery of innovative environmental and conservation outcomes, consistent with relevant policies, practices and statutory requirements.

About You

To be successful in this role you will have a good understanding of, and experience in, investigative processes, highly developed communication, interpersonal and stakeholder relationship management skills, and be well organised. Knowledge of work in the government sector will be highly regarded.

You will be required undertake a range of compliance-related activities including desktop assessments, reviewing agreements, engaging stakeholders, issuing statutory notices, conducting interviews and gathering evidence with a view to determining responses that are timely, fair, proportionate and consistent with statutory requirements. As a member of the team, it is expected that you will consistently demonstrate the values and behaviours that contribute to a constructive, high-performance culture.

Bring your demonstrated knowledge and experience of investigative process and principles in a government or non-government setting to make a difference to NSW.

Key knowledge and experience:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary operational and strategic requirements for undertaking complex compliance programs, audits and investigations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in implementing compliance and regulation in a government or non-government setting.

Essential requirements:

  • Current NSW Class C Driver Licence.
  • Willingness to undertake a Criminal History Check.
