About Bunurong Land Council Aboriginal Corporation (BLCAC)

Bunurong Land Council Aboriginal Corporation (BLCAC) is a registered Indigenous Corporation and represents the interests of Bunurong Traditional Owners. It is the Registered Aboriginal Party appointed pursuant to the Aboriginal Heritage Act 2006 (Vic) covering part of metropolitan Melbourne, the Mornington Peninsula, the Bass Coast and West Gippsland.

The BLCAC is an inclusive organisation that represents Bunurong people, their culture and heritage. BLCAC provides a unified voice for its members and supports its people's cultural goals and aspirations.

About the Role

The objective of this position is to support BLCAC in the effective and efficient liaison with one of its key external stakeholders - DEECA. The wide scope of the responsibilities held by DEECA significantly affect the interests of Victorian Traditional Owners, including Bunurong People, and it is critically important that the relationship between DEECA and BLCAC is strong, highly functional and is based on open and honest communication.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships across DEECA.
  • Participate in a range of DEECA consultative processes.
  • Be the key contact point to support projects and initiatives between BLCAC and DEECA.
  • Identify and explore potential future projects and funding opportunities.
  • Ability to assume responsibility and work autonomously with limited direction/supervision.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years working experience in natural resource management or related roles.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the various laws and regulations administered by DEECA including areas such as water, planning, and the environment.
  • Proven experience in developing and maintaining networks and/or cooperation with key strategic partners.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a variety of formats.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and manage time effectively.
  • Knowledge of Bunurong and wider Aboriginal Community in Victoria.

Compliance requirements

  • Victorian Driver's Licence is required.
  • Police Check.
  • Working With Children Check.
  • This position will require metropolitan and possibly regional travel.
  • Monthly Reporting on activities, keeping workplace diary/calendar.
