A Senior Ranger - Reserves job in Victoria for a leading conservation and sustainable tourism organisation.

Your new company

A leading conservation and sustainable tourism organisation responsible for managing significant reserves, wetlands, and woodlands and operating four major tourist attractions.

Your new role

Reporting to the Reserves Manager, you'll work collaboratively with stakeholders to implement a range of reserve management projects such as fire management, tracks, trail, asset management, and habitat restoration. You'll:

  • Prioritise, plan and lead the implementation of a broad range of projects that protect and enhance the environmental and cultural values across the Nature Parks reserves network.
  • Lead and implement the actions outlined in the Nature Parks Fire Management Plan.
  • Lead and implement key reserve projects that increase environmental resilience using an evidence-led approach.
  • Facilitate the coordination, induction, training and supervision of staff, students, interns and volunteers, associated with Reserve Management programs.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and internal policies and procedures are implemented and reviewed regularly.

What you'll need to succeed

As well as having a relevant tertiary qualification in Environmental Science/Natural Resource Management, you'll have:

  • Extensive experience in fire and emergency management, preparedness and response on public land.
  • Experience in conservation land management and forestry management.
  • Experience in environmental compliance and law enforcement activities.
  • Demonstrated experience in the use of GIS applications in conservation and land management programs.
  • Experience in the operation and maintenance of a wide range of plant and equipment associated with reserve management.
