Bush Heritage Australia are seeking a Healthy Landscape Manager - Mulligan River to join our North team at Pilungah Reserve.
This is an exceptional opportunity to make a very real contribution to the protection of Australia’s unique wildlife and their habitat.
About the role
Pilungah has much more to offer than just red desert sand! There are 233,000ha of protected flood plains, gidgee woodlands, spinifex grasslands and dune country. With 268 different species of animals, the nature reserve is also a hot bed for many reptiles. BHA protection of Pilungah gives the desert back its fringe and a refuge for wildlife.
Accommodation is provided on Pilungah Reserve. Featuring a 4-bedroom house and a fully equipped kitchen supplying everything you need including a dishwasher.
The Mulligan River Healthy Landscapes Manager is a key regional leadership position and will be responsible for collaboratively coordinating the people, land management and ecological activities on Bush Heritage’s Pilungah and Ethabuka reserves and support program development of Bush Heritage’s Aboriginal partnerships as well as community partnerships.
The Healthy Landscapes Manager is responsible for managing staff, contractors and volunteers to deliver strategic conservation and biodiversity goals/objectives. The role forms part of a dynamic team and will be responsible for overseeing the people and activities to provide coordinated conservation and partnership efforts across Pilungah and Ethabuka reserves within the Mulligan Priority Landscape.
The Healthy Landscapes Manager is responsible for coordinating and providing input into strategic conservation and biodiversity goals/objectives including the development of conservation management plans, operational work plans, budgets, HSE processes, governance, stakeholder communication and partnership engagement across their region of responsibility.
The Healthy Landscapes Manager is responsible for promoting safe work practices and culture within their team and in their work.
Due to the remote location and occasional periods of isolation, the Healthy Landscape Manager needs to be comfortable with periods of isolation, be self-sufficient, resilient, and possess practical and problem-solving skills.
