Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated, experienced Consulting Botanist to join our company. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting botanical surveys, identifying rare and endangered plant species, developing conservation plans, and providing expert consultation to clients in various industries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct botanical surveys to identify plant species, populations, and vegetation communities.
  • Develop and implement mitigation and restoration plans for sensitive habitats.
  • Conduct impact assessments and provide guidance on sustainable land use practices.
  • Provide expert consultation to clients in various industries, including energy, mining, and infrastructure development.
  • Prepare reports for clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies.
  • Prepare ecological assessments in accordance with the EP&A Act, the BC Act and the EPBC Act.
  • Maintain knowledge of current regulations, legislations, policies, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide integrated solutions to environmental challenges.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or higher degree in botany, ecology, conservation biology, or related field.
  • BAM accreditation would be an advantage.

Preferred attributes of applicant:

  • Preferably with minimum of 5 years of experience in botanical surveying, impact assessment, and mitigation planning.
  • Expertise in the identification of plant species and communities in various ecosystems.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to analyse complex data sets.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing.
  • Experience working with regulatory agencies, NGOs, and private clients.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Willingness to travel and work in remote locations.
