BACKGROUND:
The Federation is the Victorian state-wide body that convenes and advocates for the rights and interests of Traditional Owners while progressing wider social, economic, environmental, and cultural objectives. We support the progress of agreement-making and participation in decision-making to enhance the authority of Traditional Owner Corporations on behalf of their communities.

REPORTS TO:
Manager - Natural Resource Management and Economic Development Unit.
EMPLOYMENT TYPE:
This is a fixed term, 12-month full-time position.
SALARY:
$78k - $87k with additional option to salary sacrifice.
KEY DUTIES:
- Coordinate the Federation’s liaison with the Department and support Federation members and other Traditional Owner Corporations to be appropriately engaged in matters as agreed or as appropriate.
- Work with Traditional Owner Corporations, as appropriate, to support engagement in the development of collective and common policy and program initiatives.
- Engage, and foster relationships, with Traditional Owners, their corporations and other stake holders.
- Liaise with Traditional Owner Corporations to support their participation in the Natural Resources Management Collaborative Body (or other such bodies as established from time to time).
- Support the operation of the NRM Collaborative Body (or other such bodies as established from time to time) including coordination, logistics and document preparation.
- Support the development of a sustainable funding model towards assisting the Federation to maintain its capacity to fully and substantially engage with Department on matters within the Department’s portfolio responsibilities.
- Provide support to the Manager – NRM&ED Unit with funding and contract management.
- Ensure the Federation meets any reporting obligations under this Agreement and any other agreement or arrangement with the Federation.
- Attend meetings as directed and when deemed necessary.
- Perform other duties as directed by Federation Management from time-to-time in accordance with the strategic and operational plans of the Federation.
KEY COMPETENCIES:
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the political, social and economic issues affecting Traditional Owners and experience in working collaboratively with Aboriginal people.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to produce written material as required and communicate respectfully when working with individuals and groups.
- Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships and implement effective strategies that creates buy-in and support from stakeholders.
- Good computer skills, and experience in working within an office environment.
- Relevant qualifications or equivalent experience.
- Personal qualities of maturity, integrity and good judgement.
- Ability to travel throughout regional Victoria to provide support to meetings.
- Valid driver’s licence.
