Gain practical experience and develop specialist skills that give you an advantage in the job market:
* Plant biology & identification skills
* Weed control techniques and strategies
* Operation of a range of small plant
* Conducting site inspections
* Using the National Standards for Ecological Restoration
* Use of regeneration techniques & identifying regeneration potential
* Ecosystem reconstruction techniques including plant propagation and seed collection
* Understanding soils & degrading factors
* Using and producing maps for ecological restoration
* Considered & safe use of herbicides
Successful completion of the qualification can lead to careers in the following roles:
Ecological restoration practitioner, bush regenerator, park ranger, field officer, bush crew
This course can also be undertaken as a traineeship with an employer or group training organisation. Follow this link for more information on traineeships. Traineeships can be taken up with employers before or after commencing the course.

Full-time – two days/week, completed in 12 months

No classes in Victorian School holiday periods
Students are required to complete a language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) assessment prior to finalising enrollment.
Students will be required to meet a minimum of physical performance requirements to successfully complete the practical tasks such as, carrying up to 10kg, kneeling on the ground for long periods of time and extensive walking kilometers.

Upon successful completion of this course the ACUP (Agricultural Users Permit) can be applied for through AgVic.
