Short Course: Coastal Resilience
Griffith University, Gold Coast & Byron Bay, May 2020
Over the past six years, the Griffith Centre for Coastal Management has run the Coastal Hazard Management short course with more than 200 participants from local government, industry and universities. In 2019, the course successfully expanded into two offerings - a Level I: Foundations training program held on the Gold Coast, and a Level II: Advanced Applications short course held in Byron Bay with more than 70 participants from government, academia and industry.
The course has been re-branded to a Coastal Resilience Short Course, giving more emphasis on the main issue to be addressed in coastal areas in Australia and globally, with increasing climatic risks and human pressures.
The course covers Coastal Resilience theory and practice, relevant to Australia and the Asia/Pacific region, with interactive sessions and study tours being the core of both courses.
In 2020, two courses will be offered as follows:
Coastal Resilience Short Course Level I: Foundations
A two-day course held at the Gold Coast, including a study tour (various Gold Coast locations).
A draft program for the Level 1 Course is available here.
Coastal Resilience Short Course Level II: Advanced Applications
A two-day course based in Byron Bay, including a study tour of the Tweed-Byron Coast (various locations).
A draft program for the Level 2 Course is available here.
