SEQFBC 20 Year Anniversary Fire Forum

June 11 - Mt Coot-tha Botanic Gardens, Brisbane

The SEQ Fire and Biodiversity Consortium is 20 years old!

Join us as we celebrate the value of partnerships, longevity and 20 years of activity with the SEQ Fire and Biodiversity Consortium and friends.

The day will focus on long-term collaborative projects and programs with Keynote speakers including Professor Alan York (Melbourne University) and Elizabeth Ashman (DELWP, Vic) discussing the relationship between applied fire research and policy and Emeritus Professor Rob Whelan (Wollongong University) presenting on the necessity, but challenges, of long-term partnerships for biodiversity management in fire-prone ecosystems.

We will also have presentations on the central Qld fires of November/December 2018; the NSW Hotspots Project; fire frequency, vegetation change and lantana at Australia’s longest running fire experiment; indigenous fire management on Minjerrabah (North Stradbroke Island); the impact of fuel and morphology on old trees; the cost effectiveness of prescribed burning as a mitigation tool and the impact of fire on frogs and ecological change.

As ever, we are keeping costs as low as possible and we have secured the wonderful catering of the Country Women’s Association to keep you sustained throughout the event.

Feedback from previous events tells us how much you value networking opportunities, so we have also organised a mixer to follow on from the formal presentations, giving you free time to speak with presenters and catch up with colleagues. We expect a very strong response to this event and numbers are limited so we encourage you to register now.
