Would you like to work with a diverse team of rangers looking after the Territory's parks and reserves?
The Northern Territory offers an enviable lifestyle with amazing weather, stunning landscapes and unique outdoor experiences. If successful, you will be rewarded with a competitive salary package including up to 7 weeks (minimum 6 weeks) recreational leave and relocation assistance. Most sites also include partially furnished, subsidised housing.
As a Senior Ranger (T3R) you will support the Senior / Chief District Ranger to manage a team to deliver protected areas management programs, visitor activities and facilities management to implement targeted, high-quality outcomes for parks within your district; and provide support for Aboriginal and other stakeholder partnerships.
You will also use your skills and experience to train, mentor and guide less experienced team members and volunteers.
It is essential you have a sound understanding of the role of a ranger and significant experience in a field of technical work closely related to the duties of the vacancy, or a relevant qualification awarded by an Australian institution, or equivalent. Well-developed communication skills and the ability interact positively with staff, joint management partners, visitors and volunteers is a key component of the job, together with a solid understanding of protected area management.
If you are passionate about the environment and eager to contribute to and lead a team to make a lasting, positive impact to the management of the Territory's natural and cultural landscapes, this could be the role for you.
Please note - several vacancies are available across the NT. An order of merit will be established from this selection process and may be used to fill future identical vacancies for up to 12 months, including at other locations within the NT. Please contact Parks and Wildlife to enquire about available locations.
