The Corangamite Catchment Management Authority (CMA) is a Victorian Government statutory authority whose role is to work with and support natural resource management agencies, Traditional Owners and local communities to improve sustainable land use, biodiversity and water resources management extending from Ballarat south through the Western District Lakes and Victorian Volcanic Plains including Colac and Geelong, through the Otway Ranges to the coast along the Great Ocean Road.

About the opportunity

The Project Officer - Catchment Stewardship supports the delivery of sustainable agriculture projects within the Community, Agriculture and Volunteers team. A key focus is coordinating the implementation of the Victorian Government–funded Small Blocks Big Dreams and Testing the Waters land stewardship projects. This will include working closely with our project's partners Landcare, attending and supporting events, providing NRM advice to private landholders, water quality testing, property planning and project management activities such as mapping, reporting and communications.

The Project Officer also supports the delivery of other sustainable agriculture initiatives as required, working under the guidance of the Senior Project Officer and Sustainable Agriculture Facilitator.

The role is offered part-time (0.6 FTE), and we offer flexible work arrangements and support working from home in combination with working from our main office in Colac and secondary office in Geelong.

Remuneration for the role sits within the CCMA Enterprise Agreement Band 6 to 7 range: $73,537 – $99,611 per annum pro rata depending on experience, plus superannuation.

About you

  • Demonstrated experience working in natural resource management, agriculture, environmental management, conservation projects or programs and a relevant diploma or degree qualification or significant relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering projects to achieve on-ground outcomes, with experience in delivering sustainable agriculture or land stewardship projects desirable.
  • High level interpersonal, engagement and communication skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with private landholders, community groups, government agencies, research institutions and other key stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to exercise sound judgment and initiative to solve problems.
  • Strong project support skills and a demonstrated ability to plan and prioritise work objectives to effectively achieve specific goals and objectives within available resources and set timeframes.
  • Good written communication skills including the ability to prepare property plans, professional business correspondence, communication materials such as eNews and reports with attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to a positive, inclusive organisation culture.
  • Demonstrated ability to model Corangamite CMA’s Approach and the Victorian Public Sector values and behaviours.
  • Current Victorian drivers licence
