Who we are 

Beyond the spinifex sand plains of arid central Australia lies Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, one of three national parks leased by their Aboriginal owners to the Director of National Parks and jointly managed by Traditional Owners and Parks Australia. Parks Australia assists with ongoing management of the park’s natural and cultural heritage.

The purpose of the Infrastructure Team is to oversee and manage the diverse range of built infrastructure and assets of UKTNP to ensure compliance with work health and safety requirements. Infrastructure and assets for UKTNP also include overseeing the maintenance of staff housing and maintaining essential services to Mutitjulu Township, and Indigenous community of up to 300 people, within the Park boundary.

The Job

In accordance with the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park Management Plan and Board of Managements vision, under the general direction of the Park Manager this role will be required to: 

  • Manage infrastructure and assets, including housing, plant and equipment and visitor facilities.
  • Oversee and support the delivery of routine maintenance as well as major capital works.
  • Provide supervision, leadership and direction for the Maintenance team of Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park and participate as an active member of the UKTNP senior management team to promote a collegiate and supportive workplace culture.
  • Promote and implement relevant WHS legislation, policies and procedures across all sections of the park and working with relevant section managers.
  • Provide strategic analysis and advice on maintenance, infrastructure and asset management approaches and deliver sustainable capital works programs, operational projects and maintenance activities.
  • Manage the UKTNP operational maintenance and infrastructure budget including procurement, contract management and reporting. 
  • Provide support and advice to contractors and Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park staff on contract issues, asset management, and maintenance and infrastructure projects.
  • Undertake Contract and Project Management in accordance with the Departments policies, guidelines and frameworks, including monitoring and maintaining financials within the projects and contracts. 
  • Prepare project briefs, supporting documentation and reports regarding infrastructure projects, outcomes and analysis of infrastructure requirements.
