Background

The Victorian Blackberry Taskforce (VBT) plays a key role in leading and coordinating blackberry management across the State, and acts as an important link between government and the community. The VBT envisions a future where collective action - driven by collaboration, shared responsibility, and local initiative - successfully reduces the impact of blackberry across Victoria.

Position responsibilities of the Victorian Blackberry Taskforce Coordinator:

  • Provide administrative support services for the VBT and coordinate board meetings.
  • Coordinate the organisation of blackberry control community events.
  • Produce and disseminate reports and online content.

Key Activities

Provide administrative support services for the VBT

Coordinate and attend quarterly VBT Board meetings and the Annual General Meeting in Melbourne or elsewhere in Victoria, including:

  • Coordinate meeting arrangements, including attendance, venue hire, catering, and meals and accommodation (where required).
  • In partnership with the Chair, develop agendas and associated papers and distribute to Board members in print and electronic formats, as requested.
  • Prepare draft and final minutes for Chair and Board approval.

Provide other administrative support services to the VBT Board, as required, including:

  • Maintain the VBT's Google Drive folder structure, content and security.
  • Assist the VBT Chair with the preparation of annual plans and reports.
  • Assist the VBT Chair to coordinate the annual spring blackberry control advertising campaign.
  • Attend planning meetings in Wodonga, as needed.
  • Other tasks, as required.

Coordinate the organisation of blackberry control community events

On behalf of the VBT, liaise or partner with community groups to organise blackberry control demonstration and training events, including:

  • Expert speakers and contractors.
  • Catering, if required.
  • Ensure occupational health and safety protocols are followed during events.
  • Ensure event details are captured and photos obtained for use in the VBT's social media, website and reports.

And attend blackberry events around regional Victoria (some on weekends), as needed.

Produce and disseminate reports and online content

Promote the activities and impacts of the VBT to stakeholders, Government and the community, including:

  • Create content and coordinate the production of two VBT Newsletters annually.
  • Create regular content for the VBT's Website.
  • Regularly create and post content to the VBT's Facebook page.
  • Coordinate the preparation and printing of the VBT's Annual Impact Report.
  • Coordinate the production and printing of extension materials, as required.

Key Selection Criteria

  • Administrative skills relating to meeting procedures, agendas and minutes.
  • A sound understanding of effective weed management practices and principles. Knowledge of blackberry management would be advantageous.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in community engagement.
  • Expertise in managing and writing content for social media.

The successful applicant will be expected to have or obtain professional indemnity and public liability insurances.
