Nature Conservation is an independent, community-based, not-for-profit organisation. We work with the community to combine grassroots support with sound conservation science, advocacy and policy initiatives to achieve sustainable environmental outcomes for the Margaret River region.

This is reflected in a commitment to community consultation, collaborative partnerships and coordinated action. Nature Conservation undertakes a range of programs and projects encompassing planning, monitoring, research, on-ground action, awareness raising, education and capacity building.

Nature Conservation has a growing Environmental Services team that delivers a range of environmental restoration and conservation projects across the Margaret River region. Services currently include environmental weed control, revegetation, fauna monitoring, biodiversity assessments and other environmental management activities that support the protection and restoration of biodiversity values. We are seeking new team members to support a number of significant priority projects.

Experience and Qualifications

  • A passion for environmental conservation and restoration.
  • A strong work ethic and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of Southwest native and non-native plant species.
  • Experience in environmental weed control, revegetation, ecological restoration or related environmental field work.
  • Certificate III or IV in Conservation and Ecosystem Management, Horticulture or related field (desirable).
  • Current Department of Health Pest Management Technician Licence (desirable).
  • Current WA Driver’s Licence.
  • Capacity to undertake physically demanding outdoor work safely and effectively.
  • Experience undertaking environmental monitoring, fauna surveys or biodiversity assessments would be highly regarded but is not essential.

Typical Duties

  • Environmental weed control.
  • Revegetation and restoration projects.
  • Collection of environmental monitoring data.
  • Site assessments and reporting.
  • Installation and maintenance of monitoring equipment.
  • General conservation and land management activities.
  • Fauna monitoring and biodiversity surveys (if experienced).
  • Community and volunteer coordination activities where appropriate.

We are seeking both casual and fixed-term team members dedicated to environmental protection and restoration.
