The Opportunity

We are seeking multiple Senior Plant Health Inspectors, including two ongoing roles and one short‑term role. As a Senior Plant Health Inspector, you will support the goals and objectives of the Plant Biosecurity program by ensuring movements of horticultural produce are compliant with national market access and quarantine requirements. You will coordinate and conduct audits and inspections, verify and issue plant health certifications, and investigate actual or suspected plant pest incursions.

This role also involves providing professional and timely responses to queries and engaging with industry to support compliance with market access and quarantine requirements. Your work will help safeguard the state's plant health and support the strength of our primary industries.

 Special Conditions

  • Successful applicant will be required to satisfactorily complete a National Police Check (NPC) prior to being made an offer of employment.
  • Australian residency or current work permit is required (responsibility of applicant to provide evidence of a current work permit).
  • Two ongoing opportunities and one short-term opportunity up to February 2027.
  • Full-time, 37.5 hours per week.

Requirements

  • Possession of a current driver's licence and willingness to drive.
  • Out of hours work and inter / intrastate travel may be required.
  • You acknowledge your work, health and safety obligations and our expectations
  • Detection and/or outbreaks of fruit fly and other declared pests and diseases may occur anywhere in the state and at any time of the year. The incumbent will be expected to join the First Response Team (FRT) and may be required to be available to travel and work anywhere in the State at short notice, therefore a flexible approach to working significant and out of hours work will be required during outbreaks.

Remuneration

OPS4 - $79,432 min - $83,266 max per annum, plus superannuation
