Strong Women for Healthy Country Network
Aboriginal women across the Northern Territory hold deep cultural, ecological and community knowledge. The Strong Women for Healthy Country Network Aboriginal Corporation (SWHCN AC) has emerged as an important structure for connecting women leaders, sharing knowledge and strengthening women’s role in caring for Country, culture and families. It has grown out of the SWHC Network movement that was initiated through Mimal Land Management Aboriginal Corporation at the request of senior women Dalabon, Rembarrnga and Mayili Elders in 2019.
The SWHCN AC has strong grassroots support, but it is still in the early stages of establishing its corporate governance, systems and long-term sustainability. At the same time, demand is growing for women-led on-Country healing, leadership gatherings and regional coordination, including:
The Mimal SWHC Program will continue to operate whilst it has dedicated funding and until SWHCN AC is business ready and able to attract and manage the funding required to deliver its priorities.
The Opportunity
The Partnership & Communication Manager drives the growth, sustainability and visibility of the Strong Women for Healthy Country Program and Network.
The role is responsible for building and maintaining strategic relationships with partners and funders; identifying, securing and managing funding and partnership opportunities; and leading external communications (including media, content, marketing, website and social media) to strengthen the reputation and impact of the Strong Women for Healthy Country Network.
Role location is Darwin, with some travel as required.
