ReconEco is a medium sized, well-established environmental consultancy based in Lismore on the NSW North Coast. The company undertakes ecological survey and assessments for flora and fauna and for the protection of threatened species and their habitats. ReconEco's client base for includes local councils, various state government departments, not for profit organisations, developers fulfilling offset obligations and private individuals.

The Role

ReconEco is seeking to appoint a Cane Toad Control Field Officer to a casual position working 3 and 1/2 days a week (approx. 32hrs week) Tuesday to Friday unitll the end of April, with the possabilty for this work to continue beyond this time frame. While working you will be staying in the Tabulam area (Tue/Wed/Thu nights). Training, equipment, vehicle and accommodation is provided as well as a food allowance. 

The successful candidate will be working within a team of other cane toad Field Officers in a team environment. Hours will be during the day and night Tuesday mid morning to Friday morning.

  • The focus for the project is on protecting natural assets on the front line of the cane toad invasion in Tabulam and the surrounding area.
  • The Field Officers will be responsible for manual collection, trap setting and monitoring of traps and data recording on both public and private land, humane euthaniasia and disposal.

Must have:

  • Field survey experience.
  • First Aid Certification.
  • Ability to start immediately
  • Environmental science student/graduate or similar preferred

Personnal qualities:

  • Enthusiastic, self-motivated and able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Approachable with strong communication skills as the position may involve liaison/collaboration with a variety of stakeholders including private property owners.
