Maitland City Council is seeking a Flood Specialist to join our Environment and Sustainability team.

The Opportunity

Our Flood Specialist is responsible for supporting our City Planning team with flood risk management activities within our LGA.

They will work closely with our Senior Flood Specialist to provide expert advice to stakeholders and will be responsible for conducting flood risk assessments, completing analysis of flood data to support the implementation of flood risk management strategies, review flood referrals for planning proposals and generating flood certification.

They will support the Maitland Floodplain Risk Management Committee and use modelling software to simulate flood scenarios to assess potential impacts.

Maitland City Council is also recruiting for a Senior Flood Specialist.

About You

You will possess tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Planning or a related discipline or hold an equivalent combination of relevant contemporary industry experience.

You will have demonstrated experience in flood risk management including undertaking flood assessments, be proficient in flood modelling software and data analysis tools.

You will be a strong communicator and be able to demonstrate the ability to engage with a range of internal and external stakeholders and our community. You will be a proven team player who can work collaboratively with dedicated and dynamic multidisciplinary teams.

Benefits

This is a permanent full-time role, working 35 hours per week with a base salary ranging from $98,093 - $108,883 per year + 12% p.a. superannuation.
