We are a multi-disciplinary consultancy specialising in ecology, bushfire planning and spatial analysis. We are seeking a skilled GIS Officer or Senior GIS Officer to join our team. This opportunity is open to mid-level through to senior spatial professionals, with responsibilities and remuneration aligned to experience and capability.

About the Role

You will play a central role in delivering spatial analysis and mapping across ecology and bushfire projects. Depending on your experience level, you will:

  • Deliver spatial analysis and high-quality cartographic outputs for environmental impact assessments, biodiversity assessments and bushfire planning projects
  • Manage and maintain spatial datasets and internal GIS systems
  • Undertake constraints analysis, suitability modelling and risk mapping
  • Integrate remote sensing, LiDAR and other large spatial datasets
  • Develop and improve GIS workflows and automation processes
  • Contribute to technical reporting and client deliverables
  • (Senior level) Provide technical guidance to junior staff and contribute to project scoping and methodology development

About You

We are seeking a motivated GIS professional with strong technical capability and an interest in environmental consulting.

You will demonstrate:

  • A degree in GIS, geomatics, environmental science, geography or a related discipline
  • 3-5+ years’ professional GIS experience (consultancy experience highly regarded)
  • Strong proficiency in QGIS (essential) - including advanced geoprocessing, spatial analysis and map production
  • Working knowledge of ArcGIS Pro (desirable)
  • Experience managing and analysing complex spatial datasets
  • Experience supporting ecological and/or bushfire projects (highly regarded)
  • Experience with Python, PyQGIS or workflow automation (desirable)
  • Strong written communication and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage deadlines and work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team

Senior applicants should also demonstrate:

  • Experience leading spatial components of projects
  • Ability to mentor junior staff
  • Confidence contributing to methodology development and client discussions
