TREC Land Services is an ecological consultancy and restoration company that proides environmental management, restoration and consultancy across Victoria and New South Wales. 

Due to continued project expansion, we are seeking experienced ecologists to join our team with casual, part-time, or full-time positions available. These positions offer involvement in diverse and engaging projects, including regional and interstate field programs. Successful candidates will contribute to and support large, collaborative field teams across a range of ecological and infrastructure projects. 

About the Role:

You will contribute to and/or lead aspects of:

  • Targeted Flora and Fauna surveys
  • Vegetation and habitat assessments (including VQA and BAM)
  • Flora monitoring including Threatened Ecological Community (TEC) monitoring
  • Fauna salvage / spotter catcher (multiple positions available)
  • Hands-on ecological restoration

Current projects will require travel and would suit employees open to a FIFO-style role with periods of high-intensity work followed by extended breaks. 

Essential:

  • Degree in Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, Ecology, Conservation or related fields (Diploma or Cert III considered where supported by substantial field experience or demonstrated technical expertise)
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Hold a Construction Induction (White Card), Current First Aid & CPR, and 4WD Certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Current Australian Driver's Licence
  • Willingness to travel interstate for up to two weeks at a time
  • Ability to pass mandatory drug and alcohol screening

Desired:

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in ecological fieldwork or consulting
  • Knowledge of indigenous Flora and Fauna, with strong weed identification skills
  • Experience with Victorian and/or NSW biodiversity assessment guidelines (VQA, BAM, KFH and Significant Impact Assessments)
  • Fauna handling and relocation experience, including any associated formal training
  • Experience working alongside heavy machinery
  • Moderate level of physical fitness

Wages/salary to be negotiated based on the role, level of experience, demonstrated ability to work independently and employment terms with preference for full time.
