Are you a motivated and experienced Ranger passionate about conservation? Are you seeking variety and would like to be part of a collaborative workplace? We want to hear from you!

We're looking to add to our team of rangers leading the management of the Moreton Island (Mulgumpin) and Heritage Parks team within the Coastal & Islands Region. In this position you'll take on a uniquely rewarding role managing Moreton Island (Mulgumpin) and Heritage Parks Management Units.

As Senior Ranger for Mulgumpin you will be caring for lands owned by the Quandamooka People, who have voluntarily consented to a significant proportion of their lands being managed as National Park, while the Heritage Parks unit manages some of Queensland's most important heritage values.

Everyone at our Department recognises the importance of a healthy environment. The Department of Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation - contributes to ensuring one of the world's most diverse natural environments is maintained for the health and prosperity of current and future generations. In this role, you'll play a key role in driving the protection of one of our most wonderful places.

This role is about more than just park management, it's about partnership. The position requires an understanding of engaging with the First Nations Peoples and their interests relating to joint management of Gheebulum Kunangai National Park and should be able to demonstrate a well-developed understanding of working in land management and partnerships.

In addition, the Heritage Parks team this position oversees manages heritage listed sites that hold significant values with profound meaning to many people. The team is strongly focused on achieving outcomes that are well supported by the positive community partnerships held with a range of key community partner groups.

Your leadership of these teams is key as you'll head teams of rangers across diverse and scenic locations such as Mulgumpin and Fort Lytton and includes responsibility for other bay islands including St Helena National Park.

With the proximity to urban areas comes the responsibility to work alongside external agencies, particularly in matters such as bushfire preparedness and incident management, visitor management and compliance - critical work that protects both the parks and nearby communities.

What's in it for you?

  • Work to deliver a varied and complex work program across areas of significant environmental and cultural value.
  • Work with a supportive, high-performing, dynamic team with a positive culture and inspiring leadership!
  • Enjoy fantastic flexibility, benefits, work life balance, with significant training and development opportunities in fields such as fire and pest management, management planning, stakeholder engagement and working with teams!
  • You'll experience so much here. For most of us, it starts with our wonderful people and the rich, diverse perspectives they bring. They're dedicated, passionate and curious professionals. We're all different, and those differences are what make us great.
