About us:

The Lismore Land Protection Group supports landcare acitivities across the Corangamite Lakes area and the volcanic plains of the Lismore district, covering 240,000 ha.

The lakes area is Ramsar-listed, and the plains are remnants of the Victorian Volcanic Plains Eucalyptus Grasslands.

Most of the area is privately owned, with a collective group of 170 farming and urban members.

The district is highly productive, supporting high rainfall cropping and grazing systems.

About the Position:

The Agricultural Landcare Facilitator will support landcare, farmer and environmental volunteer groups and networks within the district, building capacity and resilience, and enabling groups and landholders undertake works that protect, enhance and restore the land and natural environment.

There are many opportunities to source additional funds to increase the projects being managed and the hours of work (previous facilitator hours were full time).

The facilitator role will have a strong focus on building group and network capacity, rather than dependency, to enable groups and networks to become sustainable.

The facilitator will work closely with the commitee to strengthen connections between the urban and rural community, assisting them with setting priorities, developing partnerships and communication their achievements.

About You:

  • You will have community engagement experience, natural resource managment knowledge, stakeholder managment, planning and computer literacy, along with a collaborative, engaging approach.
  • Highly develped communication skills are essential, being able to encourage participation with enthusiasm, and engage all participants within the area.
  • Exceptional planning and time managment skills, enabling you to work to project deadlines independentley.
  • Previous expertience working with landcare, farming systems, friends of groups or other environmental vounteer groups is desirable.
  • A strong knowledge of different farming systems.
  • Tertiary qualification in natural resource management are essential.
