Position: Permanent, Full or Part Time 

Australian Wetlands Consulting (AWC) are a well-established environmental consultancy based in Bangalow (Northern NSW) seeking an experienced Ecologist to join a small team undertaking a range of environmental projects for government and industry, ranging from ecological assessment to environmental and conservation planning, habitat design and ecological restoration.  

The position would suit a motivated person who wants the opportunity to grow their career in a small business environment whilst taking advantage of a coastal lifestyle. 

General Description of Position: 

Practitioner with at least 7 years experience in environmental consulting/ management, with previous experience within a private consulting business. The position is required to lead current and new ecological assessments, generate new business and supervise a small team 

Essential Skills Required: 

• Extensive experience and technical expertise in ecological assessments, including (but not limited to): 
  • flora and/or fauna surveys 
  • identification of threatened species and communities 
  • vegetation mapping 
  • general site environmental assessments 

Qualifications Required: 

• BAM experience and certification 
• Strong working knowledge of environmental legislation 
• Excellent technical report writing  
• Strong client liaison skills 
• Ability to problem solve and provide innovative solutions to complex environmental issues 
• Project administration, including budget management 
• Demonstrated ability to win and attract work 
• Science Degree (preferably with post graduate qualifications) 

Salary and allowances: 

• Salary commensurate with experience+ standard entitlements 
• Time in-lieu provision, post successful completion of a 3-month probation period 
• Training allowance of 4hrs per week for approved courses, pro rata 
• Training budget of $3500 per year pro rata for approved courses or textbooks 
• Mobile phone allowance
