Desert Channels Queensland is seeking a dynamic Business Development Officer to join our growing team.

  • A senior leadership role responsible for driving the growth and diversification of DCQ.

  • Work for the largest NRM catchment in Queensland - making up a third of the state.

For nearly 20 years, Desert Channels Queensland has partnered with landholders, graziers and communities to deliver natural resource projects in the Queensland section of the Lake Eyre Basin.

We are a dynamic, award-winning, 'roll-up-your-sleeves' team that is experienced in weed management, feral animal control, revitalising springs, property mapping, data capture, sustainable agriculture, threatened species monitoring and improving land condition. The successful candidate will be dynamic with an excellent business acumen, and an ability to drive the diversification of DCQ's funding portfolio in alignment with DCQ's natural resource (soil, water, land, biodiversity) and community objectives.

  • Identify, develop, and secure income-generating commercial partnerships, corporate sponsorships, and philanthropic donations (including bequests and foundation funding).
  • Proactively identify and engage new clients, including corporate partners, local governments, landholders, philanthropic donors, research institutions and other key stakeholders.
  • Prepare timely reports to investors, funders, clients and stakeholders that showcase impact.
  • Pitch business proposals that align external funding interests with DCQ’s mission, programs and values.
  • Negotiate and secure commercial agreements and sponsorship packages that deliver mutual benefit for DCQ and its commercial, government and not-for-profit partners.

This position will play a crucial role in growing Desert Channels Queensland and increasing our ability to invest in natural resource projects (soil, water, land and biodiversity) across the largest NRM catchment in Queensland.
