Under the minimal direction of the Manager Fire Policy and Planning the Senior Fire Planning Officer:

  • Maintains and coordinates the development/review of the department’s bushfire risk management framework, regional fuel management plans and prescribed burning programs, and supports regions to implement.
  • Applies best practice to fire management planning and provides sound advice and recommendations for fire planning processes, approaches, systems and technology used in the department, having regard for the department’s fire management responsibilities.
  • Measures, assesses and reviews annual prescribed burning program achievements and reports on outcomes versus planned performance measures/indicators.
  • Coordinates the department’s response on fire planning-related matters and engages in inter-agency liaison as required.
  • Ensures fire behaviour analysis capabilities are maintained within the department.
