The successful applicant will play a central role in supporting the preservation and development of bushland habitats across a vast range of environments.

Job Description

  • Develop, maintain, and protect bushland habitats.
  • Undertake a variety of tasks across different environmental settings.
  • Focus on safeguarding threatened species using techniques that minimise disturbance wherever possible.
  • Carry out general Bushcare activities, which may include hand weeding, knapsack spraying, cut and swab/drill and fill methods, blade slashing, and brushcutting etc. Herbicide use and application will be a necessary part of the job and chemicals must be used in accordance with strict safety guidelines.
  • Participate in revegetation projects from start to finish, including site preparation, planting, guarding, maintenance, spraying, and watering.
  • Remove woody weeds, including chipping where required.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Must possess an Australian drivers licence.
  • Certificate in conservation and land management or an equivalent field advantageous.
  • Has experience in a similar role or demonstrates a strong passion for building a career in natural resource management.
  • Shows experience working with threatened species, or has the attention to detail necessary for performing duties in sensitive environments.
  • Has experience with herbicide spraying. Possession of a spray exemption or pest technician licence is advantageous.
  • Holds a chainsaw licence or has experience operating chainsaws beneficial.
  • Possesses strong plant identification skills.
  • Holds a white card or is willing to obtain one.
  • Is physically fit and healthy, able to undertake strenuous activities across various environments and terrain.
  • Capable of working independently when required.
  • Possession of a Workzone ticket is beneficial.
