About the Role:

The Marine Park & Joint Management Project Officer supports the Marine Park Joint Management Board (JMB) made up of DAC and the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA) representatives. This role provides high-level executive, governance, and administrative support to ensure meaningful Dambimangari participation in marine park management, in line with the Joint Management Agreement and the Lalang-gaddam Marine Park Management Plan. This role will also provide further comprehensive administrative and project support across all marine park, sea and land activities in accordance with the Dambimangari Healthy Country Plan and Lalang-gaddam Marine Park (LGMP) Management Plan.

Key Duties will include:

• Coordinate DAC participation in JMB and subcommittee meetings, including logistics, agendas, minutes, and briefings.
• Maintain effective communication between DAC, DBCA, JMB members, and the broader community.
• Provide administrative support across marine park operations including purchasing, travel, payroll, projects and record keeping.
• Assist with governance and policy development, strategic planning, and internal approvals.
• Support community communications and engagement, including education materials and cultural input.
• Participate in joint management fieldwork, cultural heritage surveys, and on-country trips.

About you:

You’re a proactive and organised professional with:

• Experience delivering high-level executive and administrative support, managing competing priorities, and meeting tight deadlines.
• Strong skills in preparing reports, presentations, meeting minutes, and briefing materials.
• Proven ability to engage effectively with Aboriginal communities, government, industry, and other stakeholders.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, with strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and purchasing systems.
• Willingness to travel and work in remote Kimberley conditions.
• Background in natural resource management, Indigenous land management, conservation, or tourism (desirable).

Qualifications & Other Requirements:

• Certificate II or III in Business or equivalent.
• Current C Class driver’s license (4WD experience highly desirable).
• Ability to obtain and maintain:
  • Working with Children Check
  • National Police Clearance
  • First Aid Certificate
• Pre-employment medical (including drug & alcohol screening)

About the Corporation:

Dambimangari Aboriginal Corporation (DAC) is a small, community-driven organisation based in one of the most remote and spectacular regions of the Kimberley. We represent and work for the Dambimangari Traditional Owners, guided by Law and Culture. With a team of over 50, most of whom are Traditional Owners, DAC delivers a wide range of programs and services that support our people, protect Country, and strengthen culture.
