As demand for our services grows, we’re seeking a Spatial Analyst who’s inspired by technology, eager to learn, and will bring a ‘can-do’ attitude and some humour in assisting our team in delivering projects involving field technologies, data management and mapping production.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Spatial Analyst who is both a doer and a thinker - someone who can swiftly produce high-quality maps, troubleshoot mapping software errors, develop intuitive apps using Survey123 Connect, and drive innovation in our GIS workflows. There is always a better and quicker way to deliver, and we need you to embrace and be across new technology, including generative AI, to help us be better at what we do.

The role is fully GIS/Technology focussed and independent from any specific project team; however, you will be servicing project teams as required to meet mapping and data management needs, and innovating how we organise and deliver data visually and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver high-quality cartographic outputs, transforming complex spatial data into clear, visually compelling maps and graphics aligned with project goals
  • Troubleshoot and resolve GIS data issues to ensure spatial accuracy, data consistency, and platform reliability
  • Develop and maintain geospatial applications using tools such as Garmin Basecamp, Survey123 Connect and Field Maps to support field data collection and spatial reporting
  • Enhance workflow efficiency by developing templates, systems, and automation tools that implement innovative GIS-based solutions
  • Leverage AI (e.g. ChatGPT or similar) or other emerging technologies to optimise routine tasks, support data interpretation, and improve productivity
  • Collaborate with internal teams to understand mapping requirements and deliver tailored spatial solutions
  • Provide technical support for GIS platforms and spatial tools, including resolving user issues, supporting software installations, and promoting best practice
  • Conduct spatial and non-spatial analysis, delivering actionable insights through maps, dashboards and reports
  • Support the implementation of GIS governance frameworks by aligning procedures, standards, and workflows with organisational policies to maintain data integrity
  • Assist with GIS platform administration by coordinating software updates, managing user onboarding and offboarding, and maintaining security and system performance

Qualifications, Experience & Skills

Essential:

  • Advanced proficiency in ArcGIS Pro, Field Maps, and Survey123
  • Advanced user of ChatGPT or equivalent AI tools
  • Demonstrated ability to build and troubleshoot apps using Survey123
  • 2+ years in a GIS-focused role with hands-on experience in spatial data production and error resolution
  • Excellent attention to detail, task focus, and time management
  • Problem-solving mindset with a willingness to explore and implement innovative solutions and new technologies
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver to deadlines

Desirable:

  • Experience with automating GIS workflows
  • Tertiary qualification in related field such as Environmental Science or Geography
  • Familiarity with Python scripting or ModelBuilder
  • Previous experience in consulting environment
  • Exposure to environmental planning or natural resource mapping
  • An understanding of GIS integration, supporting the alignment of GIS platforms with internal systems including environmental databases
