Field Team Leader - Western Australia
Advertiser:
GreenCollar
Location:
Perth or Carnarvon, WA
About the role
GreenCollar is currently seeking a Team Leader to join our Field Team in Western Australia. This is a permanent full-time opportunity in which you will be required to take part in one twelve-day field trip per month, and complete office tasks in the opposite fortnight.
This is a physically active role suited to candidates who are keen to work and live outdoors in a tight knit team and are eager to sharpen their understanding of land systems and pastoral enterprises, interact with local communities and contribute to long-lasting, impactful work.
The right candidates for this role will have spent time working outdoors and leading teams in tough conditions - motivating everyone to get the job done but also paying careful attention to their team's culture and wellbeing. With the support of colleagues who've worked in the role themselves, you'll plan trips and travel to different rural properties, coordinating each day's surveying plan, and ensuring things are being done in a safe and efficient manner. You'll help with the recruitment and training of new team members, manage the equipment inventory, and liaise with our landholder partners. This is a hands-on role involving lots of problem solving and thinking on your feet.
Although the focus of our fieldwork is to collect scientific data, the key attributes required for this job extend beyond scientific knowledge. The right person for this role will have worked as a leader in situations which at times may have been difficult. A good attitude towards leadership will include empathy, patience, and a sense of humour, as well as the ability to keep a team on track and get the job done on the harder days.
Successful applicants will work one twelve day field trip and four office days per month. You'll be responsible for planning field trips in the office, and then when in the field, coordinating each day's work, ensuring the data collected is high quality and that trips are running safely and efficiently.
Your day-to-day responsibilities at GreenCollar will include:
In WA, transport is provided from Perth or Carnarvon. Applicants outside of these areas are welcome to apply but must be aware that their travel from home to the base location will not be covered.
Accommodation, meals and equipment are provided, along with training. A good attitude is the most important thing you can bring to this role.
