Join Us in Managing WA’s Iconic Rangelands
Do you thrive in wild, remote landscapes? Are you passionate about sustainable land management and working alongside pastoralists to protect our State’s unique ecosystems?
We are seeking talented professionals to join our Rangeland Science team. We currently have two (2) Development Officer and two (2) Research Scientist permanent – full time positions available for immediate filling.
These roles involve undertaking fieldwork across the WA Rangelands, which spans from the Kimberley to the Nullarbor and feature stunning, diverse landscapes. You will travel to remote and rugged areas of the outback, working with pastoralists and industry to maintain and improve rangeland conditions.
As a Development Officer you will support sustainable agri-food industry growth through rangeland monitoring, research, and regulation. This involves working with pastoralists, grower groups, and stakeholders to assess land condition, support mapping and capability studies, and promoting best practices and technology adoption. You will also provide expert advice and fulfil regulatory duties for the Soil and Land Conservation Commissioner.
As a Research Scientist, you will lead scientific efforts that underpin sustainable resource management for WA’s agri-food industry. This will involve developing rangeland condition standards, reassessing Pastoral Carrying Capacity, and analysing regional monitoring data. You will also promote best-practice land management and provide expert advice to the Soil and Land Conservation Commissioner and the Pastoral Lands Board.
