The Parks and Partnerships section within the Parks and Conservation Service includes Volunteers and Visitor Experience, Urban Reserves, National Parks and Catchments and Offsets Planning, Monitoring and Research.
The Urban Reserves sub-section has management responsibility for Canberra Nature Park, Mulligans Flat Woodland Sanctuary, Molonglo River Reserve and Googong Foreshores.
The Director, Urban Reserves oversees the planning and operations for a network of nature conservation reserves within or adjacent to the urban area that includes Canberra Nature Park, Mulligans Flat Woodland Sanctuary, Kowen and Molonglo Gorge, Molonglo River Reserve, Googong Foreshores and Jerrabomberra Wetlands. Stakeholder collaboration is an important part of the role noting the extensive interface and proximity of urban reserves to suburban Canberra and the associated significant community use of and interest in the management of urban reserves. The Director leads a team of around 50 FTE including five direct reports.
