About the Position:

The Katungal (Sea Country) Program Manager will coordinate planning, community engagement and project delivery of the Nanjet to Mallacoota Indigenous Protected Area (IPA) Plan. The role will support the delivery priorities of the Gunaikurnai People and Aboriginal communities of Far East Gippsland, and the objectives of the Sea Country Program. The Katungal Program engages with Traditional Owners and community groups, to manage the delivery of the IPA in partnership with Far East Traditional Owner Groups. The position will support Sea Country operations and activities in a manner that is adaptive, flexible and responsive to community needs and key stakeholder expectations. This role has a strong focus on mentoring to build the capacity and capability of staff and community in project management.

Essential:

  • Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science/Conservation Land Management and/or equivalent experience in a similar field is desirable.
  • Demonstrated high level judgement and experience in analytical problem solving and decision making.
  • Demonstrated experience in coordinating or managing multiple complex projects. Interpersonal skills to effectively engage with community, agency partners and stakeholders.
  • Experience working with Aboriginal people, including a demonstrated ability to communicate and engage sensitively and effectively with Traditional Owner led communities and organisations, knowledge of the social and cultural issues they experience along with a genuine appreciation and respect for their culture .

Other Requirements:

  • Commitment to complete mandatory training.
  • Current Victorian Manual Driver's Licence.
  • Requirement to undergo vaccinations where applicable.
  • Mandatory random Drug and Alcohol Testing (Policy Agreement).
  • Pre-employment Fitness Testing.
  • Working With Children Check and/or Police Check.
