About MOPRA

MOPRA is a Yolngu-owned Aboriginal Corporation based at Milingimbi, focusing on environmental management, cultural preservation, service delivery and livelihood improvement across the Crocodile Islands, northeast Arnhem Land.

MOPRA's work currently includes a ranger program and management of the c. 8,000km2 Maringa IPA, a Learning on Country Program, and managing housing and essential services at several remote outstations across the Crocodile Islands region.

MOPRA is looking to grow its operations, to expand its focus and service delivery and have greater impact for the local people.

Crocodile Islands

The Crocodile Islands is a unique and spectacular region. It possesses diverse and pristine landscapes and a strong Yolngu culture dating back tens of thousands of years. There are numerous untouched islands and coastal wetlands, a myriad of wild estuaries, and vast mangrove forests. The region supports abundant wildlife, including rare and threatened species such as marine turtles, dugong, migratory shorebirds and others. The seas are closed to commercial fishing. The recreational fishing is incredible, including barramundi, reef and pelagic species, and unexplored billfish grounds.

The role

MOPRA is seeking a General Manager who will bring energy and experience to the team. More specifically, this person will:

  1. Oversee the Ranger and IPA programs, the Learning on Country Program, and the Homelands Program;
  2. Be a key driver of MOPRA's future growth and development; and
  3. Help with day-to-day management of the organisation.
