An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced practitioner to lead a dedicated team in the contemporary management of Western Australia’s southwest forests.
With your extensive management-level experience in forest ecosystems and forest health, you will be well-placed to develop the policy which will underpin ecologically sustainable forest management practices, in the context of a changing climate.
You will proactively engage with stakeholders and partners to support the delivery of positive forest management outcomes through your high-level communication skills.
Forest Management Branch is primarily responsible for modelling the forest resource, and the planning for and scheduling of ecological thinning of native forests. Forest Management Branch has four main programs: Forest Assessment and Monitoring, Systems and Decision Support, Forest Operations Planning and Disturbance Approval System (DAS).
As Manager Forest Management Branch you will manage your team at an advanced professional level, under limited direction and using independent judgement. You will be responsible for implementation of native forest policy including strategic and operational planning for ecological thinning, natural resource assessment and reporting, modelling and decision support systems, leading professional and support staff, and providing key policy and technical advice on ecologically sustainable forest management.
At the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA), we have adopted Leadership Expectation which provides a common understanding of the mindsets and expected behaviours required of all our employees and the public sector. In this role, you will demonstrate Personal Leadership to help drive positive change.
The successful applicant will be required to possess or obtain a current and satisfactory National Police Check prior to commencement.
