As the AO6 Principal Project Officer, you will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of a range of projects funded through the joint Queensland and Australian Government Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA). The DRFA provides funding for projects that support the rehabilitation and restoration of rain and flood affected environments to maintain healthy ecosystems and improve their resilience against future events. 

This role will specifically focus on projects providing threatened species outcomes through the Environmental Investigations and Biodiversity Conservation components of the DRFA programs. The Principal Project Officer will be responsible for overseeing the development of project agreements with stakeholders and service providers, managing procurement and grants, tracking finance and reporting requirements, managing stakeholder engagement, program communications and media considerations. There will be opportunities to travel to project sites to meet with delivery partners, undertake site inspections and review project outcomes as part of this role. 

A critical element of our program is working with our stakeholders and communicating our program priorities, so we are looking for someone who is engaging and adaptive in their communications and ways of working. To be successful in this position you must have: 

  • Experience in project management related to ecological planning, 
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a diverse team 
  • An ability to build relationships and communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders and negotiate project requirements.
