Are you passionate about the marine environment, natural resource management and working in a dynamic environment? Then consider a career at the Australian Fisheries Management Authority (AFMA).

As the Manager Squid, Scallop and Small Pelagic Fisheries, you will be responsible for:

  • the day-to-day management of these fisheries; and
  • leading and managing a multi-skilled team in pursuit of AFMA’s legislative and organisational objectives as they relate to fisheries management.

The successful applicant must be able to supervise a small team with staff across multiple locations.  A strong focus will be on the candidate’s integrity, and ability to communicate, represent AFMA in public and community engagement, build relationships and manage people.

The successful applicant will report to the Senior Manager, Demersal and Midwater Fisheries.

The primary focus of the position is to deliver ecologically sustainable, cost-effective, and efficient fisheries management services to the government, the fishing industry, and other key stakeholders on behalf of the Australian community.

Eligibility

  • AFMA staff are employed under the Australian Public Service Act 1999. All applicants must be Australian citizens. 
  • The successful applicant must hold or have the ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline security clearance. 
  • The occupant of the position must have the ability to undertake interstate travel 
  • The occupant must hold or be able to obtain and maintain a valid Australian Government Passport.
