OUR STORY

The Central Land Council (CLC) is a corporate Commonwealth entity established under the Aboriginal Land Rights (Northern Territory) Act 1976. The CLC represents traditional landowners, native title holders and other Aboriginal people in the southern half of the Northern Territory—an area of almost 780,000 square kilometres. 

The CLC provides its constituents with advice, advocacy and practical assistance to support their aspirations, manage their land and realise and protect their rights.

THE ROLE - DESERT FIRE AND CARBON COORDINATOR

  • ONGOING CONTRACT

This position will manage a specialist team and work closely with traditional owners, project partners and fire authorities to represent the fire management interests of Aboriginal land owners in central Australia. It will coordinate a program of fire planning and prescribed burning in collaboration with traditional owners, community ranger groups and Indigenous Protected Areas (IPAs). 

It will provide advice and policy recommendations on fire mitigation, bushfire suppression and carbon abatement, and will help maintain and develop Indigenous interests in carbon abatement and contribute to Aboriginal self‐determination in the fire and carbon space.
