Our Geotechnical and Hydrogeology Group in Victoria has a great opportunity for a Hydrogeologist to join us in Melbourne.

You’ll be part of our Victorian Hydrogeology team, comprising 10 Hydrogeologists with a broad experience mix. The Victorian Hydrogeology Team services internal and external clients to ensure the sustainable management of groundwater resources. We offer specialist technical advice and capability in assessing and analysing groundwater systems, designing and managing groundwater infrastructure, facilitating economic and social values of groundwater, while protecting its environmental values. We also support the related teams of Hydrogeologists within contamination and mining groups. Hydrogeology as a technical service across GHD is truly global, and you’ll have the opportunity to collaborate on projects across Australia, Asia Pacific and beyond.

Working with an energetic and high-performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

  • Delivering a diverse range of hydrogeology projects in accordance with industry standards, relevant Acts, Regulations, and guidelines.
  • Planning and executing field testing or site-based investigations, including borehole drilling, groundwater monitoring, aquifer testing, sampling and monitoring.
  • Performing data analysis and interpretation using appropriate software and tools.
  • Preparing and writing technical reports and proposals.
  • Occasionally taking on the role of Project Manager for routine projects, managing project budgets, schedules, and deliverables. Or an interest to develop into a Project Manager

What would you bring to the team?

  • A Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Geology, Environmental Engineering, or a related field, with a specialisation in Hydrogeology, coupled with ideally 5+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Strong technical writing, data analysis, and interpretation skills.
  • Experience overseeing simple field programs/site supervision with limited to no supervision.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (particularly Excel).
  • A valid Australian Driver’s License. 
  • Working knowledge of GIS (ideally ArcGIS Pro), AQTESOLV, Surfer, gINT, OpenGround Cloud, Python are all desirable.
  • Industry accreditation (e.g. CPEng, CEnvP, Ac.Geo.10) or an interest to become accredited.
