Do you want your work to make a difference for NSW?
Together, we create thriving environments, communities and economies.
The Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water is currently seeking to appoint a Regional Team Leader to join the Biodiversity Conservation Trust (BCT).
The Regional Team Leader manages a small team responsible for delivering BCT programs within a BCT region. The role encompasses staff leadership, project management, landholder support, customer service, stakeholder engagement, partnerships, education, communications, conservation assessment, compliance, monitoring, evaluation and reporting.
About the role
The BCT manages Biodiversity Stewardship Agreements under the NSW Biodiversity Offsets Scheme by making annual biodiversity stewardship payments to private landholders carrying out conservation management actions on their sites. The BCT ensures compliance of agreements through review of annual reports and site inspections and provides ongoing landholder support.
A focus of the role is co-ordinating the delivery of Biodiversity Stewardship Agreements in the Sydney-Hunter Region, and leadership in Biodiversity Stewardship Agreements across the BCT. The role ensures the team's work (e.g. annual reports, correspondence, landholder payment forms, etc.) is of high quality and consistent with internal processes. The Regional Team Leader also authorises financial payments to landholders and attends non-compliant agreement sites with team members to support landholders in fulfilling their agreement obligations.
The role is also involved in the delivery of other BCT programs not related to the Biodiversity Offsets Scheme. More information on these programs is available on the BCT website.
