The Opportunity

To support the development of the Mutjung Ranger team and program while advancing GDAC's Strategic Plan and the dedication of the Western Miyarrka IPA. This role includes facilitating IPA consultations, implementing the Miyarrka Healthy Country Plan, and addressing key priorities like fire management and cultural mapping. It focuses on training, mentoring, and building leadership within the ranger team while managing operational needs and engaging with stakeholders to progress IPA planning and projects.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need the following skills and experience:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification or demonstrated experience in natural or cultural resource management.
  • Proven ability to manage small teams and coordinate field projects safely and effectively, including mentoring and coaching staff.
  • Strong cross-cultural communication skills, with experience working respectfully under Indigenous leadership and following cultural protocols.
  • Excellent teamwork, relationship-building, and community engagement skills to support empowerment and self-determination.
  • Capacity to work independently and flexibly in remote regions, remaining organised and positive in challenging environments.
  • Experience managing assets, facilities, and materials while ensuring compliance with WHS policies and protocols.
  • Strong project management and administration skills, including planning, budgeting, reporting, and using Microsoft Office.
  • Valid manual driver's license with 4WD off-road experience in remote areas.
  • Current first aid certificate and Working with Children's Check or ability to obtain.
  • GIS mapping skills and mechanical aptitude (desirable).
